Domain Watchman's headline is "Save yourself from expired domain name trouble!" Its founder built it to keep track of the names you own and to help you discover new ones. It also lets you keep a list of taken names you like and tells you when one becomes available. Alerts cover a nearing expiry date, a status change, a nameserver change, owner information becoming public, a new registration, and availability. They go to email, Slack, Discord, or Telegram. Its changelog says every domain is checked each night.

For a name you own, that is a sound renewal safety net. For a name you want, the record changing overnight is late and narrow. A listing on Sedo, an expired-domain auction at GoDaddy, or a 30 percent price cut on Atom does not change the record at all. Domain Watchman does not name a marketplace or auction house. Notify.domains watches eleven of each, plus the website, throughout the day.

Which one to use

Choose Domain Watchman if

Your main worry is your own portfolio expiring, you like Slack, Discord, or Telegram alerts, and you want a lot of names for little money. Lite is free for 20 names. Pro is $108 a year for 200 names with a year of history, labels, and grouping.

Choose Notify.domains if

The name belongs to someone else and you want to buy it. You want to hear about a listing, an auction, a price change, the site going dark, or the nameservers moving to a for-sale lander the day it happens, and you want the alert to say what to do next.

Domain Watchman and Notify.domains, feature by feature

Domain Watchman's homepage, pricing page, changelog, and About page were read on 7 November 2026. Its newest changelog entry is dated 17 July 2023. Its homepage describes reputation checks and an API; its pricing page marks both "Soon," so we treat them as not yet available. "Not advertised" means it was not on the pages we read.

Why nightly is late for a name you want

A nightly check is fine for a renewal date that is weeks away. The events that let you buy someone else's name move faster. An expired-domain auction at GoDaddy runs for days, and you want to know on the first one. A marketplace price cut can be taken by the first buyer who sees it. A name in pending delete has five days before it drops, and a backorder has to be in place before then.

We look at every name throughout the day, and each alert names the venue, the price, and the next step. Buying expired domains covers how to act on each one.

The record is one layer of six

Domain Watchman watches the registration record: expiry, status, nameservers, owner, availability. That is one of six things we watch on a name you want. The others are the drop and backorder window, expired-domain auctions, marketplace listings, the website, and DNS and reputation. Many of the ways a buyer actually gets a taken name happen in those other five. The monitoring tools index maps which tool covers which layer.
