Notify.domains vs Domainy

Domainy's pitch is "Find your perfect domain. Monitor until it's yours." It is a domain search tool across GoDaddy, Namecheap, Gandi, and others, with price comparison, saved searches, tags, and a watchlist. Add a taken name and it checks once a day whether the name is available to register, then emails you. Plans are inexpensive: free for 3 names and $10 a month for 2,000. Auto-purchase is listed as coming soon.

The watchlist answers one question: is it free to register yet? For many names worth wanting, that day never comes. The owner lists the name on a marketplace. Or it expires and sells at the registrar's auction during grace. Or a drop-catch service registers it the second it deletes. Domainy names no auction house or marketplace. Notify.domains watches eleven of each, the site, and the drop.

Which one to use

Choose Domainy if

You are still brainstorming. You want unlimited searches across registrars, prices side by side, and a cheap way to park hundreds of maybe-names that you would only take at registration price. The Business plan watches 2,000 names for $10 a month.

Choose Notify.domains if

You have picked the name and you would pay more than registration price for it. You want to hear when it is listed, auctioned, or cut in price, when the site goes dark, and when to place a backorder, not only on the day it might become free.

Domainy and Notify.domains, feature by feature

Domainy's homepage, including the pricing section, and its FAQ were read on 7 November 2026. Its FAQ says paid plans start at $5 a month while its pricing cards show a $3 Starter plan; we quote the cards. "Not advertised" means it was not on the pages we read.

Names that never become available

An availability watch works on names nobody else wants. Those really do expire, sit through grace and redemption, and drop, and a daily check is enough to catch them.

Names with demand take other paths. An owner who gets a few offers lists the name on Sedo or Atom. A name that expires at GoDaddy goes into GoDaddy Auctions, and if anyone bids, it never drops. A name that does reach pending delete is usually registered by a drop-catch service within seconds, and the registrant becomes that service's placeholder. An availability check sees none of that. It just never fires. Why did I not get the domain explains what happened in each case.

What to watch instead

On a name you would pay for, the useful alerts are the ones that come before availability. The site went dark. The mail records were removed. It was listed on a marketplace, or the price dropped. It entered an expired-domain auction. It entered pending delete, and the backorder window is open. Each is a point where you can act, and each one comes with the venue and the next step. Domain name monitoring lists everything we watch.
